[Prototype Demo] RE: At the World's End
A downloadable game
About:
This is the showcase prototype build of RE: At the World's End that was demoed at the BruGameDev showcase as part of the "Youth Connect Hari Belia Kebangsaan 2023". While there are some minor issues (see below), this game is playable to start to finish. Despite those issues, we hope you have a good time playing it, and are able to feel the love and passion we have poured into making this prototype!
Gameplay Features:
- An action-platformer inspired by the post-SotN Igavania series, along with the rich lore-heavy storytelling style of contemporary Souls-like games;
- Experience the Poise-Stagger mechanic reworked with the addition of the 'Hamedo' counter system. A combat system that rewards timed strikes and aggressive pushes;
- Beautiful hand-crafted environments with carefully tweaked particles and lighting;
Controls:
Controller Controls are provided in-game, but for KB/M controls:
- WASD = controller left stick
- Arrow keys = controller face buttons
- TAB = menu

Known issues and workarounds (we're working on fixing these =D):
1. Main menu doesn't have a quit button
Workaround: we're really sorry about this, but you'll either have to enter the game, then quit via the in-game menu, or alternatively ALT-F4 your way out.
2. Getting trapped between area transitions
Workaround: this tends to happen when you change your direction just as you enter a zone change. Just do the opposite to undo - i.e. run to the zone change, then immediately on entering it, move at full blast in the other direction. If unable to undo, we recommend using the in-game restart button via the menu.
3. Ability containers and boss might not spawn
Workaround: when you load into the game, just immediately use the in-game menu to restart the level - this will definitely fix the issue. This is due to us still learning about how scriptable object states behave upon closing the game.
4. Stuck in a certain state (guard, crawl, jump, etc.)
Workaround: Just keep moving and clicking the stuck buttons. Stuck on crawl? Try tapping the crawl button, etc.
